Where the electroweak phase transition ends

چکیده
We give a more precise characterisation of the end of the electroweak phase transition in the framework of the effective 3d SU(2)-Higgs lattice model than has been given before. The model has now been simulated at βG = 12 and 16 for M ∗ H = 70 GeV and Higgs masses above the critical mass up to lattices 80 and the data have been used for reweighting. The breakdown of finite volume scaling of the Lee–Yang zeroes indicates the immediate change from a first order transition to a crossover at λ3/g 2 3 = 0.105(1) in rough agreement with results of Ref. [1] at βG = 9 and smaller lattices. The infinite volume extrapolation of the discontinuity ∆〈φφ〉/g 3 turns to zero at λ3/g 2 3 = 0.113(2). We comment on the limitations of the second method.

In this paper, an analytic treatment of electroweak phase transition is proposed within the two-Higgs doublet model. This phase transition occurs in one stage and is strongly first order. Therefore, it can be applied to the electroweak baryogenesis scenario, whereas the standard model cannot provide this condition considering the experimental data. Also, we study CP violation which is one of th...
متن کاملElectroweak phase transition in the MSSM with four generations
By assuming the existence of the sequential fourth generation to the minimal supersymmetric standard model (MSSM), we study the possibility of a strongly first-order electroweak phase transition. We find that there is a parameter region of the MSSM where the electroweak phase transition is strongly first order. In that parameter region, the mass of the lighter scalar Higgs boson is calculated t...
متن کاملElectroweak Baryogenesis: an Overview (where Are We Now?)
It now seems plausible that the observed baryon asymmetry may have been produced at the electroweak phase transition. We review the considerations which lead to this conclusion, focusing on the obstacles to making reliable estimates. These arise from incomplete knowledge of baryon-violating rates near the phase transition, our limited understanding of the phase transition itself, and incomplete...
متن کاملA Confining Strong First-Order Electroweak Phase Transition
In the Randall-Sundrum model where the radion is stabilized by a Goldberger-Wise (GW) potential there is a supercooled transition from a deconfined to a confined phase at temperatures orders of magnitude below the typical Standard Model critical temperature. When the Higgs is localized at the IR brane the electroweak phase transition is delayed and becomes a strong first-order one where the Uni...
متن کاملPhase transitions from preheating in gauge theories
We show by studying the Abelian Higgs model with numerical lattice simulations that nonthermal phase transitions arising out of preheating after inflation are possible in gauge-Higgs models under rather general circumstances. This may lead to the formation of gauged topological defects and, if the scale at which inflation ends is low enough, to electroweak baryogenesis after preheating.
